About

The Violet Eye

A blade leaves a wound. Poison leaves a trace. The Violet Eye leaves nothing.

The assassin slips close to her mark and sends her mind into the depths of his. There, her weapon is the art of seduction passed down through her master's line — teasing, entwining, luring him on until his defenses fall away layer by layer and his soul is drawn out of him, to the last thread.

When the art takes hold, her eyes burn with an eerie violet light. That is where it gets its name.

A man whose soul has been taken does not shed a drop of blood. He simply never wakes again.

The contract comes without a photograph

All your master gives you is a description: the color of his coat, whether he wears a hat, where he tends to linger, what he does when he thinks he's alone. Take that description into a house full of people and find the one it belongs to.

Narrow from a distance, confirm with a gaze

From the shadows, color and silhouette rule out most of them. But more than one man wears a dark blue coat — one of them wears round glasses and one doesn't, and those glasses are the whole answer. A gaze shows you that much. It also means holding your eyes on him for seconds, and he can turn around at any one of them.

Documents scattered through the estate fill in what the contract left out. Whether they're worth the detour is your call.

See without being seen

  • Three movement speeds, each carrying the sound of your steps a different distance

  • Lean from cover — your sight leaves the shadow, your body stays in it

  • Throw a stone to pull a patrol, blink through a window, see through walls

  • Twenty-seven guard personalities. Some are paranoid, some are slow. No two infiltrations play alike.

Mind Battle

Once you're inside, the fight moves into his consciousness. Six arts, six entirely different games. Let your energy hit zero and you are thrown out — and he wakes up shouting that there's an assassin in the house.

The cost of a wrong guess

Pierce the wrong mind and he wakes up shouting. A soul lamp shatters. The estate snaps to full alert and the nearest guards start moving.

But nobody has died. Wait it out and the alert falls again, and you still have lamps left — only now the whole house is awake, and the man you came for may have moved on.

The one thing you can't hide

Chased? Slip into a cabinet — the longer you stay hidden, the faster the alert falls. But once a body is found, the whole estate turns to the manhunt, and this run will never be quiet again.
